Music
One to one from about eleven, and an ensemble with no audition.
“She sings all day. Should she have lessons?”
Singing lessons here start at about eleven. Below that a child who loves to sing is better served by musicianship, by an instrument, or by simply singing — and there is a page on this site that explains that at more length, because it is the question Jonah is asked most and the answer disappoints people until they hear the reasoning.

On the timetable
Every row is the real class: the day, the room, the teacher and the fee the enrolment system actually charges.
| Class | Day | Time | Room | Teacher | Places | Term fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VoiceMusicianship, juniors ages 6 to 9 | Monday | 5:00pm - 5:45pm | Music Room 1 | Jonah Feldman | 8 | $234 |

What it costs
Teen vocal ensemble with Jonah Feldman is one example. Every other class in this discipline, and every class in the school, is the same sum with different numbers.
How that figure is arrived at
$22 is the published rate for an hour, and it is on the fees page. That multiplication is the whole of it: no materials charge, no studio levy and no compulsory extras. A 10 per cent family discount comes off every class after the first, and a student joining part-way through the term pays for the sessions still to come rather than for the ones already gone.
Most of this discipline is not in the table above
The teen vocal ensemble and junior musicianship are on the group timetable above; singing itself is taught one to one, in a lesson booked into Jonah's own diary.

A child's voice is a growing instrument and the techniques that build an adult voice are, at eight, either meaningless or actively unhelpful. There is nothing to be gained by starting five years early and something to be lost by drilling a young larynx. What we can do, and do, is take that child for musicianship or for an instrument, so that when they are eleven and start singing lessons they arrive able to read, count and hear. That is a better use of three years than three years of singing lessons would have been.
Who teaches it
In a school this size, the person watching a technique in the first week of a term is the same person watching it in the last.
Voice and guitar
Voice and Guitar · here since 2019
Teaches guitar, singing and the teen vocal ensemble.
Before the first lesson
You do not need to buy an instrument before the first lesson and you should not. Talk to the teacher first — the wrong size is worse than none.
A child's voice is a growing instrument, and the techniques that build an adult voice are either meaningless or actively unhelpful on one that young. We take a younger child for musicianship or for an instrument instead, so that singing lessons start on a foundation rather than from nothing.
No. Eight places, no audition, and a repertoire chosen in the first week by the eight people who have to sing it.
$45 for half an hour, $62 for forty-five minutes, or $78 for an hour, booked in the diary on this site.
Singing · one free trial per student
A trial is a real lesson and the student joins in — the only evidence about a school that is not marketing, which is why it costs nothing.
