Term dates and fees
A class fee is a per-session rate multiplied by the number of times that class actually meets. We publish the multiplication rather than the answer, because the answer on its own is the thing people argue about at the desk in October.

The three terms
Fall, spring and summer. Each has a start, an end and the dates inside it when the building
is closed, and every one of those is printed below rather than discovered in a newsletter.
The three terms, their dates, the weeks they span and the recesses inside them. The last two columns are the reason fees are quoted as a multiplication rather than as a term price: Memorial Day 2027 is a Monday, so in the summer term a Monday class meets nine times and a Saturday class meets ten.

Why two identical classes can cost different amounts
Look at the last two columns of that table. In Summer Term 2027 a class on
Monday meets nine times and a class on
Saturday meets ten. Nothing about the classes differs
— Ballet Ballet 1 on
Monday and the same class on Saturday are the same length with
the same teacher. Memorial Day falls on a Monday that year, and a holiday
falls on a DATE rather than on a term.
So the Monday class costs $198 that
term and the Saturday one costs
$220. A school quoting one flat term price is
either rounding in its own favour or has not noticed. We would rather print the sum.
Every fee here is a rate times a number of sessions. Every fee on this site is a per-session rate multiplied by the number of times the class actually meets in that term. The multiplication is shown rather than the answer, because two classes of the same length in the same term can honestly cost different amounts when a holiday falls on one of their weekdays.
What a session costs
Four class lengths, four rates
Forty-five minutes
$18a session
First Steps classes, junior tap and every musicianship class. Long enough to warm up, work and finish; short enough for a five-year-old.
Multiplied by the sessions that class actually meets
ten per cent off every class after the first in a family
Pro rata for a student joining part-way through
$30 registration, once a year, per student
Most classes
An hour
$22a session
The standard technique class from about six upward, and both ensembles. Most of the timetable is this length.

Pro rata for a student joining part-way through
$30 registration, once a year, per student
An hour and a quarter
$26a session
The upper levels, the teen classes and every adult open class. The extra fifteen minutes is centre work rather than more warm-up.

An hour and a half
$30a session
Held for rehearsal weeks in the summer term rather than for the ordinary timetable, and charged at the same per-session logic as everything else.

A worked example
Ballet, Ballet 1, on
Monday at 4:45pm. It is
an hour long, so it is charged at the
an hour rate.

Fall Term 2026, this classthirteen sessions$286
$22 is the published rate for an hour, and it is on the fees page. That multiplication is the whole of it: no materials charge, no studio levy and no compulsory extras. A 10 per cent family discount comes off every class after the first, and a student joining part-way through the term pays for the sessions still to come rather than for the ones already gone.
Joining part-way through a term
You pay for the sessions still to come. If that same class were joined on
19 October 2026, there would be eight sessions left in
Fall Term 2026 and the fee would be $176 rather than
$286.
That is the same multiplication with a shorter list. It is not a discount, it is not a
concession, and it is offered rather than asked for — the enrolment page does the sum
in front of you before you confirm anything.
Joining late costs less, and it is arithmetic. A student joining part-way through a term pays for the sessions still to come. That is the same multiplication with a shorter list, and it is offered rather than asked for.
The things that are not in the class fee
Registration, $30. Once a school year, per student, charged when a place is first taken up. Never on a trial and never for sitting on a waiting list. It is not refundable, because it has been spent on registering the student.
The recital, $45. Optional, per student, per recital. It covers costume hire — hire, not purchase — and two seats. There is no separate costume bill, no compulsory photograph package and no fundraising obligation.
Shoes and practice clothes. Bought by you, from anywhere. There is no school uniform, no compulsory colour and nothing to buy from us.
Everything else is in it. The teaching, the room, the accompaniment where a class has it, the register, and the loan of a guitar or a violin for a first term.
The family discount
ten per cent comes off every class after the first in
one family in one term. It applies whether the second class is for a second child or is a
second class for the same child, and that is deliberate: a second class for one child costs
the school exactly what a first class for a second child costs, and a school that pays a
parent for having two children but not for one child doing two things is making a
distinction it cannot defend.
If a term's fee is genuinely difficult
Tell the office. We would rather arrange something than lose a student, that conversation
stays between you and the office, and it does not reach the teacher unless you want it to.
This is the least-used paragraph on the website and it is the one we would most like people
to read.
Fall Term 2026
Every class, with the arithmetic
The longest of the three terms. It ends with the winter showcase, which is on the Saturday before the last week of classes rather than on the last day, so that a family travelling for the holidays does not have to choose.
Every class in the school for Fall Term 2026, with the arithmetic. The fee is the rate for that class length multiplied by the number of times a class on that weekday meets this term. Nothing else is added: no materials charge, no studio levy, no compulsory extras. Registration is $30 once a school year per student, and the family discount is ten per cent off every class after the first.
Enrolment opens on 30 November 2026. Existing students
are enrolled first for a fortnight, and then places go to the waiting lists. Nobody is
rolled over automatically and nobody is charged for a term they did not ask for.
Every class in the school for Spring Term 2027, with the arithmetic. The fee is the rate for that class length multiplied by the number of times a class on that weekday meets this term. Nothing else is added: no materials charge, no studio levy, no compulsory extras. Registration is $30 once a school year per student, and the family discount is ten per cent off every class after the first.
