We hire rarely and we would rather say so than run a permanent advertisement.
There are six teachers and the school is not growing quickly on purpose. When a class needs covering we ask the people already here first, and when we do hire we are looking for somebody who wants to teach the same class every week for years rather than for somebody between other things.
What we look for
- Teaching experience with the age group, which is a different skill from being able to do the thing
- Availability at the hours a school has, which are after school and Saturday morning and nothing else
- A willingness to be the named teacher of a class for a whole year
No trial teaching, paid or otherwise
We do not run internships or unpaid trial teaching. Somebody in front of a class is working and is paid for it from the first hour.
The reason is the same one behind publishing a fee as a multiplication rather than an answer: a class taught by somebody working for nothing is a class families are still paying for, and we would rather not pretend that arrangement is a favour to the person teaching it.
