Voice and guitar
Jonah Feldman
Teaches guitar, singing and the teen vocal ensemble.
Background
Jonah teaches guitar in groups and singing one to one, which is the opposite of how most schools arrange the two, and he has a reason: a beginner guitarist learns faster in a room with five other beginners, and a beginner singer does not, because the instrument is attached to the ego.
He takes voice from about eleven upward. Below that he will teach a child music through the guitar or through musicianship, and there is a page on this site explaining why, because it is the question he is asked most.
The teen vocal ensemble on Tuesday evening is his: eight singers, no auditions, and a repertoire chosen in the first week by the people who have to sing it.

A guitar group works because everybody is equally bad on the first evening. A singing group is nobody's first evening.

Every fee here is a rate times a number of sessions. Every fee on this site is a per-session rate multiplied by the number of times the class actually meets in that term. The multiplication is shown rather than the answer, because two classes of the same length in the same term can honestly cost different amounts when a holiday falls on one of their weekdays.
What Jonah teaches
- Voice — One to one from about eleven, and an ensemble with no audition.
- Guitar — Taught in small groups, because a beginner guitarist learns faster in a room with other beginners.
What to expect in this class
Expect guitar taught in a room with several other beginners rather than alone, singing taught one to one because the instrument is attached to the ego in a way a guitar is not, and, if a child asking is younger than about eleven, a plain explanation of why voice lessons wait and what is taught in the meantime instead.
